Remedial Massage
Our beauitful body is continuously working for us, doing its utmost to return to and maintain homeostasis. Each moment of the day, we are receiving signals from it so that we can alter our actions based on what it needs to bring us back to balance.
When it comes to musculoskeletal imbalance, the body gives us cues of pain or discomfort to let us know we need to shift the load from an area that is receiving more than it can cope with. Unfortunately, we have not effectively been taught how to recognize this, and these signals often go consciously or unconsciously ignored.
After some time, a new compensatory pattern is born and, if it is ignored for long enough, creates embedded dysfunction, often leading to a 'domino effect' and impacting more and more of the body. It is at this point that the accompanying pain is too loud to keep ignoring.
Using myofascial release, deep tissue, trigger point therapy and nervous system relaxation techniques, Remedial Massage addresses and nurtures the tissues that have become overloaded, aggravated and thickened.
When our tissues have these properties, they become adhesive, dry and/or rigid, which makes it very difficult to move well and pain-free.
Remedial Massage can provide amazing relief from pain, especially when paired with Corrective Exercise.
To summarise, the aims of Remedial Massage are:
✧ Connect with the physical body, acknowledge and address signals of distress from soft tissues
✧ Rewire your relationship with pain
✧ Relieve overloaded and restricted tissues, improving the health and elastic properties of the fascia
✧ Assist in stress management and the release of emotional tension (pain and inflammation) stored in the body
✧ Aid in therestoration of biomechanical patterns
